Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains how Healing and District Social Club ("The Toppy", "the club", "we") handles your personal information — on this website and in running the club.
Who we are and how to contact us
Healing and District Social Club is a members-only social club at 1-2 Rookery Rd, Healing, Grimsby, DN41 7PS. For anything in this policy — questions, corrections, deletion requests — speak to a committee member at the club, call 01472 883434, or email admin@healing-toppy.uk.
This website
The public website is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS): pages are stored in Amazon S3 and served through Amazon CloudFront. As with almost any website, AWS's infrastructure keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses and pages requested) for security and operational purposes.
The public website sets no cookies. If you switch between light and dark mode, that preference is saved in your browser's local storage — it stays on your device, is never sent to us or anyone else, and is not tracking. The map on our Find Us page is an embedded OpenStreetMap view, chosen because it is cookie-free. We use no advertising, analytics or social-media trackers.
The club's admin area — used by committee members and authorised helpers only, on a separate web address — uses session cookies to keep those staff signed in. It is not part of the public website.
Contact and membership forms
When you send a contact message or membership enquiry through this website, the details you provide (name, email address, phone number and message) are:
- emailed to the club committee so they can reply, and
- stored in the club's admin system so the committee can view and keep track of enquiries.
Stored submissions are kept indefinitely as part of the club's records, on a legitimate-interest basis. The committee can delete a submission manually at any time — if you would like something you sent to be removed, just ask using the contact details above.
Member data
The club keeps a copy of its membership records, refreshed nightly from the club's till and membership system (ICR Touch). This copy includes your name, contact details (email address and mobile number), membership status and any outstanding balance. It is used only to run the club — managing memberships, billing and sending club communications — and is not shared with third parties beyond the services the club uses to send those communications (Amazon SES for email and Amazon SNS for text messages).
Emails and text messages
Club emails (newsletters, event announcements and notices) go to members who have an email address on record. Every bulk email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops further bulk email straight away.
Text messages are different: they are sent only to members who have explicitly opted in. You can withdraw that consent at any time by telling a committee member, and you will not be texted again.
Committee officer details
Where committee officers' contact details appear on this website, they do so with the officer's explicit consent. Officers may ask for their details to be removed at any time.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you have the right to see the information the club holds about you, to have it corrected, and to have it erased. Erasure requests are honoured in full — including removal from the club's source records in the ICR Touch system, not just this website's copy. To exercise any of these rights, contact the club using the details above.
